What does “Start-Up Nation” mean to you?

How do you visualize the Start-Up Nation? What exactly pops up in your head that could sum up this concept and represent innovation? This is where we introduce you to this unique photo contest, which is being presented by Start-Up Nation Central and Photo IS:RAEL, an NGO that uses photography to create a dialog between art and social causes. The grand prize is a scholarship to an academic institute of the winner’s choice. Joining is completely FREE, so what are you waiting for?

Pause for a minute and think and try to think out of the box. After all, this is what makes Israel the start-up nation in the first place – pioneers and groundbreakers envisioning how to make the world a better and more efficient place. The concept of the start-up nation became definite by the best-selling book, Start-Up Nation: The Story of Israel’s Economic Miracle. What gives rise to this incredible success is the fact that innovation and innovative spirit liberally flow through Israel, much like the biblical milk and honey.

Combine a melting pot of mixed nationalities in this tiny, sand-strewn, 20 sq kilometer patch of reclaimed desert along with eager trailblazers and inventors and you’ve produced a good part of what endows Israel with its widespread ability to create innovation through improvisation.

Whether it’s precision technology that can somehow locate hidden things or developing driverless car technology, innovation is literally everywhere you look here. You’d have to work harder to avoid it than to experience it for yourself.

In other words, you are welcome to capture the vision of the start-up nation and send it to us! Yes – we want you to demonstrate what the start-up nation means to you. Give us your experience of innovation through improvisation, represented in picture format and enter. The contest is open for submissions until October 15 and will be determined by a group of judges who collectively reflect both the entrepreneurial spirit and expertise in photography.

The winning image will win a scholarship to an academic institute of the winner’s choice. You don’t need to be a professional photographer or have the latest DSLR,  just tell the story as you see it with a photo that, as far as you’re concerned, BEST captures the spirit of the start-up nation.
