Start-Up Nation Central Recognized for its Significant Contributions to Morocco’s FRDISI Foundation
CASABLANCA, Morocco – H.E. André Azoulay, senior adviser to King Mohammed VI of Morocco, recently recognized Start-Up Nation Central, a non-profit organization that promotes Israeli innovation around the world, with an award for its contributions to Morocco’s Fondation de Recherche de Développement et d’Innovation en Sciences et Ingénierie (FRDISI), which is focused on research and innovation in science and engineering.
The award was given during the Foundation’s annual board meeting by Azoulay, who presides over the Foundation. FRDISI was founded in 2016 and includes members who hail from the public and private sectors, including several government ministries as well as some of its most notable companies such as ONEE, Lina Holding, Consumar, FMIIP and AKDITAL. The Foundation has been actively promoting research and development projects, education and training, assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups, and incubation projects and has established several educational centers across the country.
FRDISI and Start-Up Nation Central have been collaborating following the latter’s Connect2Innovate conference in May 2022, which brought the largest delegation of Israeli start-ups into Morocco and where more than a dozen agreements were signed between Israeli and Moroccan companies including an official MOU between FRDISI and Start-Up Nation Central. Following the event, the two organizations have been working together in three areas: providing water desalination and purification solutions for rural areas in Morocco, sharing best practices in technology transfer within the bio-medical industry and establishing links between Israeli and Moroccan medical faculties.
“We are honored to receive this esteemed award from H.E. Andre Azulay on behalf of the FRDISI Foundation which symbolizes the successful collaboration between Israel and Morocco. It is a testament to the immense potential of partnerships in fostering innovation and driving economic growth,” said Start-Up Nation Central’s CEO Avi Hasson.
