Start-Up Nation Central and FemTech Israel map the local FemTech Landscape

Start-Up Nation Central, a non-profit that promotes the Israeli innovation ecosystem around the world, published on Monday (March 7, 2022) a first-of-its-kind landscape map detailing some of the leading Israeli FemTech companies. The map was created in collaboration with FemTech Israel, an Israeli Technology & Innovation community promoting innovation and technological solutions for women’s needs.
“As a subcategory of health technology one of Start-Up Nation Central main sector focus area, the vertical attempts to highlight the historical and systemic exclusion of women’s health needs in the healthcare industry while creating targeted solutions for a range of those needs, from breastfeeding, pelvic health and reproductive and pregnancy to wellness and safety” explains Lena Rogovin, Start-Up Nation Central’s Digital Health and Life Sciences Sector Lead. “As part of our efforts to grow the Israeli ecosystem, mapping the different start-ups and showcasing the category helps investors and other parts of the ecosystem navigate their business and funnel more activity to the startup” Rogovin adds.
The interactive map highlights about 130 start-ups and growth companies providing solutions across ten verticals: Breastfeeding, cosmetics, diagnostics, oncology and cancer support, pelvic health, reproductive and pregnancy, safety, sexual wellness, surgery, and wellness.
According to the Start-Up Nation Central Finder Israel is home to roughly 130 companies with women as the target audience, out of which 90 are health focused, a number which has been stable for the last few years. In 2021, $160M were invested in Israeli FemTech companies, compared to $215M in 2020 and $157 in 2019.
