Regional Climate Tech
Collaboration: Working Paper

Launched in July 2023, the Regional Climate Collaboration project is a joint effort by the Israel Democracy Institute, Startup Nation Central, and EcoPeace ME, emphasizing a mutual understanding for the distinct contributions and needs within the region, advocating for a partnership approach rather than a one-sided solution.

As part of our partnership, Startup Nation Central contributed to a report identifying opportunities for climate innovation collaborations between Israel and selected MENA countries. Gary Soleiman from our Innovation Diplomacy team co-authored the working paper with Sharon Bengio, Erez Sommer, David Shurman, and Peleg Gottdiener.

Findings were first presented at the Israel Democracy Institute 2024 Eli Hurvitz Conference on Economy and Society and can be accessed HERE – or continue reading below.

The research delves into:

  • Strategies for bridging cultural business gaps through the promotion of third-party intermediaries
  • Enhancing market access via comprehensive stakeholder mapping
  • Aligning governmental focus with regional climate needs through the prioritization of high-potential sectors

Special thanks to the professional advisors on the report, Dr. Eyal Hulata, Daphna Aviram Nitsan, and Aviva Steinberger. The research will continue to be updated in the coming months.

The Time for Israeli Innovation is Now

This report is part of our innovation diplomacy activities forging international relations through Israeli innovation.

Israel is a highly appealing landscape for climate tech collaboration due to the dynamism and resilience of its tech startups.

A challenging environment has fostered innovation and efficiency, leading to the emergence of new technologies tackling some of the region and the world’s most pressing challenges.

This means that global solution seekers benefit from frictionless access to Israel’s problem solvers, their expertise, and their unique approach to technology – now more than ever. There is no time to waste.

We call this Impatient Innovation.
